Greed

How do you fight a stingy spirit? Give!! When I was a little girl, living at home with my parents, we didn’t have a lot of money. My mom would buy us 2 liter cokes to drink and some good snacks (candy, chips, little white donuts, yum my favorite ect.) but when company came over I had to run and help hide all of them. This created a stingy spirit in me. When I became a parent, I found myself doing this same thing. God began dealing with me about this. This was one thing I did not like about myself. So the way I overcame this stingy, greedy, spirit was to give. I started leaving everything out instead of hiding it. I began offering these items whenever I had company. I felt so much peace and love instead of worry and turmoil. It made me feel so good inside to give, and once I started giving, I always had resources to buy more. The Bible says, God loves a cheerful giver. One of many things I have learned is you can’t out give God, he will bless you back many times more for what you give.

Proverbs 11: 24-25 One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
