Have you ever heard that voice, deep inside you, tell you to do or not do something? I’m sure all of us have at one point or another, and we all have the same answer, “if only I had listened!” Well I have learned over the years, to start listening to that still, small, voice. For it is the Holy Spirit, trying to guide me in the right direction. Oh, how many times, I wish I had listened. The Holy Spirit, he is a gentleman, he does not force us to listen but he sure tries to get us to listen.
I have even argued with him before and told him, I wasn’t about to do what he told me, I was going to do. How crazy is that! So this is what happened, I was about to get in my swimming pool, in my back yard. I was going to float on my raft and look at my phone. I heard him plain as day, say to me, “your phone is going to get wet.” I thought, no it isn’t because I’m going to be on my raft. I heard him say again, “don’t take your phone in the pool, it is going to get wet!” I climbed the ladder with my phone in hand, then I decided to lay my upper body across the raft and let my legs float in the water. So I put my elbows on the raft to pull myself on to it, and when I did both my arms went under the water along with my phone! I freaked out and started hollering “No!” My screen was all different colors and frozen at the same time. I quickly jumped out of the pool and ran into the house. I took my phone apart and set the battery out in the sun and I blow-dried the rest of my phone. I did apologize to the Lord for not listening, and I ask him to please let my phone work again. After several hours, I put my phone back together and it worked. This was a training exercise for me. I learned a good lesson that day and had to eat humble pie! Jesus wants all of us to learn to be led by the Holy Spirit, just as he was. Many times it can mean life or death. The bible says in John 10:27, “My sheep know my voice.” We just have to listen and obey!
